Terms of Service

By using Tapeflix, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully — they are written in plain language because we believe they should be understandable, not intimidating.

1. About Tapeflix

Tapeflix is an application that uses artificial intelligence to analyse the videos in your device's photo gallery, group them into thematic episodes with an automatic title, ambient music and date stamp, and stream them to the TV via Chromecast or AirPlay.

By accepting these terms, you enter into an agreement with Tapeflix to use the service under the conditions described here.

2. Eligibility

To use Tapeflix you must:

  • Be at least 16 years of age (or the legal age of majority in your jurisdiction)
  • Have the legal capacity to enter into binding contracts
  • Not be prohibited from using the service under applicable law

3. Account and access

3.1 Authentication

Access to Tapeflix is through a one-time code sent to your email, or through Sign in with Apple. We do not create a separate password — your Tapeflix account is linked to your email address or your existing Apple account.

3.2 Account responsibility

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your access credentials and for all activity carried out through your account. Notify us immediately in the event of unauthorised use.

4. Use of the service

4.1 Licence to use

Tapeflix grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the application for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these terms.

4.2 Acceptable use

You agree not to use Tapeflix to:

  • Process content that infringes third-party rights (copyright, privacy, etc.)
  • Carry out illegal activities or activities that violate applicable regulations
  • Attempt to access, modify or interfere with Tapeflix systems or servers
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile or extract source code from the application
  • Use the service in a way that could harm other users or the platform itself

4.3 Processed content

Videos processed by Tapeflix belong to you and remain in your gallery. Tapeflix temporarily accesses your videos solely to create episodes — it does not store video content on its servers. See our Privacy Policy for more details.

5. Intellectual property

5.1 Your content

You retain all rights to the videos and content in your gallery. By using Tapeflix, you grant us a limited licence to process that content for the sole purpose of providing the service.

5.2 Tapeflix property

Tapeflix, including its software, design, brand, algorithms and platform-generated content (episode structure, AI-created titles, etc.) is the property of Tapeflix and is protected by intellectual property rights. You may not use these elements without express written authorisation.

5.3 Generated episodes

Episodes automatically created from your videos are for personal use. Tapeflix claims no ownership over the content of your videos — only over the tools and processes used to organise them.

6. Availability and changes to the service

We reserve the right, at any time and without prior notice, to:

  • Modify, suspend or discontinue the service (in whole or in part)
  • Update or change features
  • Change pricing or access conditions, with reasonable prior notice

We will make every effort to give advance notice of significant changes.

7. Payments (where applicable)

Tapeflix may offer free and paid plans. Where applicable:

  • Prices will be clearly communicated before any charge
  • Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date
  • Refunds are processed in accordance with the policy of the app store used (App Store or Google Play)

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Tapeflix is not liable for:

  • Loss or damage to data or content
  • Indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages
  • Service interruptions caused by factors outside our control
  • Actions of third parties, including service providers such as Google or Apple
Tapeflix's total liability to you, for any cause and regardless of the form of action, is limited to the amount paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

9. Warranty disclaimer

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.

10. Termination

You may stop using Tapeflix at any time by deleting the app (and, if you signed in with Apple, revoking access in your Apple account settings).

We may suspend or terminate your access for breach of these terms, with prior notice wherever reasonably possible, except in cases of serious violations or illegal activity.

11. Governing law and dispute resolution

These terms are governed by Portuguese law. In the event of a dispute, the parties agree to seek a friendly resolution before resorting to legal proceedings.

For users in the European Union, alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms are available. The European Commission provides an online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms periodically. We will notify active users by email at least 15 days in advance of material changes. Continued use of the service after that period constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
